Pathways UMC will host a Worship Seminar on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 at their church located in Alba, Missouri. Like many churches, Pathways UMC has struggled to find conferences that are affordable for a team to attend since many conferences are as much as $200 just for one person and may also require expensive travel. After much research, Jennafer Johnson has found an exciting Worship Seminar that can be brought to the local church.
Tom Kraeuter has been teaching worship seminars and worship conferences for 25 years. He has been leading God's people in worship even longer than that. Tom is well known in the worship arena as he has authored several books and is a gifted speaker on the topic of worship. Jennafer has contacted others who have attended his sessions and they have given nothing but good remarks about his seminars. Because of this, Pathways UMC has decided to host a seminar at their church and would like to invite other area churches to be a part of this learning experience as well.
The seminar is geared not only to worship leaders and teams, but also pastors, and others in the congregation that would want to explore the area of worship. To learn more about this ministry, additional details, as well as some video of the worship seminar, may be found at worshipseminar.com. The Worship Team at Pathways UMC is very excited about this event and hope that this is not only a growing experience for their team, but also for other local leaders and teams across the district.
More detailed information will be sent directly to local churches in our area or you can check back to the district website for updates as we receive more information from Jennafer. If you would like to contact the church directly the phone number for Pathways UMC is 417/525-4900.
iLead Conference: Feb. 12-13 at Wesley UMC in Jefferson City. It will start on Friday night with registration 8-9 pm. First session is at 9 pm. Please note the location is at Wesley UMC in Jeff City. Cost is $25 for the first person and $20 for each additional. It is important to bring youth who are leaders as well as adults. All adults must be Conference Safe Sanctuaries certified. To register, you can send it in or you can email me. I will need the names of participants, especially adults, the number attending, and contact info for the group. The registration deadline is Feb. 3. You can add folks after that, but we would like to know approximately how many. It will help Michael Novelli in his planning. By the end of the event on Saturday, you will be able to go back to your church and lead "Storying."
Remember: Confirmation with the Bishop is Feb. 26-27. We will be attending the Celebration of Purim at Kol Ami on Friday night, staying overnight at Red Bridge UMC, visiting the Greek Orthodox Church Saturday morning, eating at Grand Avenue Temple, worship with Bishop Schnase, and Celebrate Mass before going home Saturday about 3:30 pm. Registration is required. Please email me with numbers and adult names. All adults must be Conference Safe Sanctuaries certified. Feb. 19-20, Confirmation with the Bishop is in Columbia and St. Louis. Once you have registered a detailed schedule will be sent.
I would say that we will be closing more mission trip sites within the next couple of weeks. Now is the time to make a decision on a site and submit your deposit.

This special event has been created to encourage our Christian teens (and adult youth leaders) to "Dive" deeper in their relationship with God. They are being given an opportunity to participate in an inspirational day of events. The "Ignite" band will lead worship. They are the college band at Celebration Community Church in Hays Kansas.
The featured speaker is Brant Rice, the Associate / Youth Pastor at Celebration. Brant was a full time teacher in the public school system when he answered God's call to full time Youth Ministry. He has a heart for God and today's youth. His words speak into the hearts of young and old alike. Brant will also lead a break-out session for youth leaders to give encouragement and share personal insight for ministering to today's teens.
Youthfest will begin on Saturday, December 4, at 10:00 am until 4:00pm (lunch included). Then we'll break for supper on our own. Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of this time to invite anyone/everyone to join us for an exciting finale at 7:00. (Every minute has been accounted for and I'm afraid everyone's going to end up wishing we had more time.) The cost is $5 at the door at the Carl Junction United Methodist Church. A concession area will be provided at little to no cost. If any money received exceeds our expenses, it will be used to support next year's Youthfest.
This is sponsored by the Carl Junction Youth Pastors (Baptist, Christian, Fir Road Christian and United Methodist Churches). I can't imagine a better way to enter the Christmas season. Eyes will be opened to the truest meaning of Christ in us. For more information Curtis Hight can be contacted at 417-825-2330

If you have an innovative or creative ministry idea that has proved effective, please consider sharing it with us as the “subject matter expert” during Minister’s School. Please contact Patrick Moore patrick@st-paulumc.org (816)-805-4945 if you have an idea you are willing to share.
